The PRD CONTROLLED wants to welcome Ricky Bang into the class. Although new to karting he comes from racing autocross for a while and wanting to come enjoy some wheel to wheel racing. Sent from my HTCONE using proboards Attachments:

Greetings, I have a few questions directly pertaining to PRD controlled class. 1. Is there a spec fuel and/or oil, and if so what is it? 2. Has there been a spec gear mandated to this point? 3. What is class weight? (Therd are two listed on the PRD site, as club option) 4. Are front brakes legal (including hand-operated)? 5. When would I received the rebate? 6. Is shipping from RLV or local dealer? and 7. Are taxes applicable for out of state (country) customers

We highly recommend a 98 racing fuel. 2. The spec gear will be set this weekend and will be posted once set. 3. The class weight at our club is 390# to allow as many racers to be competitive as possible. 4. Front brakes are not legal. 5. The rebate as i understand from RLV will be received after it's verified that you've run 4 club races. 6. Shipping as well as payment is straight through PRD-USA(RLV), the club just verifies membership and participated races. 7. Honestly i do not know how the taxes would work, that would be dealt with through PRD-USA. Ricky Worley Midnight Motorsports

Thank you very much! That's a shame about the front brakes, because everything is so bloody heavy now (myself included)! I guess that's why there was a move to the hand-operated brakes in Europe!
I am wondering with regards to the clutch on the PRD, if it's the same or similar to what was used on the original Fireball? I remember the driver I was tuning for at Supernats X was one of the first in North America to br using the engine (and we were doing development work with the engine). To the best of my memory it was very similar to the original Leopard clutch, which has significantly been revised. Has the clutch on the fireball gone through similar development, and is it of the quality of a rotax clutch for example.
Thanks again. the big pain in the **** Oliver

With regard to the front brakes in Europe, I believe the reason they have hand operated ones is due to the higher hp kf engines compared to our tag engines, and the versatility, as front brakes aren't always needed.
About the clutch, the original PRD clutchh utilized springs, shoes, and central hub which broke springs often as I understand. The new style clutch, which has seen one revision already, is a laser cut steel clutch center which mount on the crank and has "shoes" that flex away from the center part of the piece very similar to what IAME and rotax are using these days. What does happen eventually is the metal will fatigue and break where the flexion takes place (not just the PRD) and after that the piece jams in and turns direct drive. I have had this happen, runs just fine once you get going.

Everyone,
After talking with RLV about the gear ratio, we are going to do more testing this weekend to ensure the gear ratio is correct.

Okay,
So after figuring out some things today, the spec gear ratio will be set at 83. Pretty close to the same ratio as last year.
