It appears that the TCKC has taken a leading role in the NW with the decision to go with the Burris tire and has a few people from outside of their club a bit stirred up. We’re not new to Karting and are longtime racers ourselves. We have done extensive in house testing over a long period of time as well as had independent testing done by reputable shops and competitors at various tracks on different days outside of our influence who have confirmed the performance and longevity that we promote to the clubs. I honestly believe that the TCKC members will be pleased with the product as well as the overall program and we look forward to working with the club directors and members in building on what we have started.
Tristan writes: “I have read into the tires a little of what NKN did in an issue about 3 months ago and they seemed to like them but found they needed way diffferent pressures and found the kart reguired a little chassis tuning to get the car to turn.” In response to what has been read into the NKN article…..The pressures we run with the B44A’s are very similar or the same as what has been run with the YHC’s at the same track on the same day for a given application. On the set up, we tend to run the rear track slightly narrower with the B44A’s then the YHC’s but nothing that would require more then an allen wrench for you to try for yourself to see what works best for a particular driver’s liking. In all, it will be a very easy transition for the driver and crew to get the set up optimized.

Something that all of us have in our favor since we are about to go forward with in this venture, is information. We aren't talking to a major corporation here. We are talking to a KARTING family that has made this their primary means of putting food on the table from day one. When you see someone like Kurt answering a question like he just did, he is there for all of us. I wouldn't hesitate for a second to call on any of their products, and they will be happy to respond. If we have tire questions when we start practicing/racing on the Burris tires, they will be answered.

Just thought I would add some info about the Burris tires that we are now using down here in Northern California with our F200 series www.f200.org/ We have found the B44's on par with the Bridgestones YHC's as far as adhesion but that is where the similarity ends! The B44's will give you more runs than the YHC would ever give and they are cheaper!. In all honesty, the competitive YHC racers are getting about 1 race day out of there tires before seeing lap times rise. IMO, That is unacceptable! Those racers are not happy about it either especially when they see how our tires have been working. It will probably only be a matter of time before a lot of other clubs figure this out and jump on the bandwagon.. Todd

Thanks, Todd - That's exactly what we've heard, and that will definitely give our Club Members confindence that we have made the right decision. I'm sure that you will hear alot more success stories coming from our track when we start running.

Hey guys.... its been a while! Personally I'm not suprised... every event ive ever participated in (R/C Racing, Car Racing, R/C Flying etc...) When there is a change, someone isn't happy... I'm very excited to see a company like Burris willing to jump on board and support the TCKC. "Corporate" support is a big step for any club, and really gives the club motivation and support in the right direction. Kart Racing has never been a "cheap" sport (especially for a top-ramen eating college student like me!!!) So personally im extremely excited to see the introduction of the Burris tire, and am looking forward to running on it and getting them dialed in. The lower cost and longevity is exactly what I want to hear as a club racer. So how about we give Burris a warm welcome and not find things to crab about... If I was sponsoring a club/series, and saw belly aching right away, I dont know how supportive I would continue to be. So, thank you Burris Family, and I look forward to seeing everyone on the track again! After a year off, I'm really Jonesin' to get back out there! Brett Bowen

I was just interested hearing how the Burris tires worked for the racers now that they have actually had the chance to run them.

the 44 series isnt as good because our track rips them up but i guess the 55 series is harder which is like the mogo's so they are pretty good... the 55 series and 44 series are only a .010 off i heard... so i would go with the 55's but they are a great tire if they dont tear apart

We have heard how Derek feels but there must be some else with an opinion on the performance of this tire.

In my opinion this is a great tire. the 55 are about a 10th slower then the 44 but they both stay more consistent through the life of the tire which on my kart is about 300 laps you do not see the lap times fall off until about the last ten laps. we have had some tire wear issues with some karts, as did I with mine at the beginning of the year but once I found my setup the tires have been great. I have only purchased 4 sets this year. the race track does play a part in the tire wear that is why the 55 may be a better tire for this track

I thought the tires were a disapointment since i am on my fourth set of tires and virtually never practiced on them because i could only get about 70 laps out of a set. Maybe the 55's are better but i still think club racing is soppost to be economical meaning a tire that you can get at least 3 races and some practice on But on a side note if you are the type that buys tires every race there great.

I personally have not had any problems with them other than wear. I think the 44's are an excellent tire, but have not given people the wear and longevity that we thought it would. At the first of the year Brooke ran 325 laps on a set and didn't lose much time until the last 30 or so and when she came off the track all 4 tires were down to the cords. Mike told me I shouldn't have run them that long though! One thing I do like about them is they come in right now, not a lap or 2 into a run. After having Mike and Kurt Burris up here for our night race, we have come to the conclusion that the surface of our track is just too abrasive due to age for the 44's. The cool thing about them being here is that we learned a lot and so did they. The F200 kart Kurt ran had 2 race old tires on it that had been ran a Moran's and showed great wear until he ran on our surface. Since that race several of us have done testing with the 55's to see if we could get them to last longer. At this point I have about 130 laps on a set of 55's on my Animal kart that the lap times have not dropped off after about 12 to 15 heat cycles. They are about 1 to 2 tenths of a second slower in the heat of the day than the 44s but who cares as long as they last longer. Ryan Ross ran a set of 55's on his Rotax jr while Colton Shelby and Artie were running MOJO's and Bridgestone yhc tires respectively, and he was as fast at the start of the main and faster toward the end until a bumper was used in the place of brakes.LOL. I am going to run the same 55's on my F200 kart at the next race that Ryan ran in the night race and see how they hold up to the torque and hp of one of those. We will keep everyone posted on how this is going and what we are finding.
Thanks Corey Poynor

I didn't realize that these were the same tires being run on the dirt tracks. I have experience with 11's-55's from my dirt days. Interesting.
