I was excited to hear about the Clone class. This will be my first year and, of course, I'm on a tight budget. Anybody here plan on running the Clones?

id like to run also, but i dont think i will. u can always try the burris jackshaft kit that fits 4 cycle motors on 2 cycle chassis, but i dont know for sure if it works with the clone

The Burris jackshaft set up will work on all of the 4 cycle engines. Fortunately that is one thing all of the engines have in common

We have three running and if anyone has an old 2 stroke chassis they want changed to 4 stroke for the clone class we can do it. We have 4 changed and your welcome to come take a look.

Another way to thin the driver counts out? Running Burris tires again this year as well?

If tires are a problem maybe we can talk to the board about helping the class get started. The cheaper the better it is for everyone.

I know I am late to this discussion, but in the vein of keeping costs down you can come out to the gold cup event this weekend and can quite often score some really good used tires from some of the racers. They are happy to unload them and the track is happy not to have them left behind. I believe that the ykc bridgestone will be raced at club this season. I haven't seen if officially announced so you may want to double check me on that one.

This is my first post and am new to the forum ( not new to karting though, raced about 15 years ago, My how things have changed since then). I,m getting my son started in racing and have been looking at this class for me to have some fun, I,m very interested in running this class and would like to know if all the rules have been finalized and what they are. I would like to get into this class because it sounds like cost will be minimal and with me helping my son the cheaper the better for me. It would be nice to see this class with a great turnout. Looking forward to more info on this.

As I understand it, there is nothing you can do to the motors, they have to be completely stock with no modifications except for removing useless parts like the governor and low oil switch. here is a link on one of the other posts in the clone forum that has the motor rules http://www.burrisnationalspeedwayseries.....s_Section12.pdf Also the club has some rules that are club only rules contrary to what the burris rules say and they are, You must run a muffler/silencer and drum clutches only no disk clutches. Hope this helps and hope you would like to run this class, the more the better.

I just noticed that the infamous Harbor Freight has the clone motor on sale for $100 (Through May 16). I bought my first one from Kart Sport NW, but I may have to buy one of these just because...
