Guys,
Is it normal for the tillotson carb to spray fuel back towards the airbox at idle? The L and H jets are 2 1/8 1 3/8 respectively. I just rebuilt and cleaned the carb. I know that the carb sprayed fuel back before the rebuild as well.
Thanks! Kevin

First off, which carb are you running? The hl-166/hl-395a or the hl-360? I don't know if I'd say it's normal to "spray" towards the airbox, but they always do end up with fuel/oil running into the airbox due to Tilly design. They are not a carb made to idle, and are always rich on the low end, which I why they pull well on the low end compared to a bowl carb.

Hi Ricky, I have the HL360. To start it, I need to open the throttle a little bit. I haven't been able to set it to where I don't need to do that. On my MiniMax rotax (I have two), they both just start. Of course, the minimax have manual chokes.
So do you just take the airbox off periodically to drain? Thanks.

Never had to drain it, just self oils the air cleaner provided you run one. From my experience the recommended settings are too rich. I have much more experience with the 166/395 but ran the 360 not long ago at gold cup. I found that 1.5-1.75 on the low, and 1 1/8- 1 1/4 for the high. This will vary, but that's my experience. Thanks Ricky. I'll taking the kart out this afternoon. Let's see how it goes, I might try to lean out the L.
