Looking for a kid kart and all the gear my boy would need to get started in racing. I would like to make it up to the pumpkin race if we can find something.

I'm also looking for a kart for myself, I'm just not in a hurry and I'm not positive which class I want to run next year.

That looks nice to. I hadn't seen that one when I posted earlier. It's priced very good and it has all the gear you're looking for. Better hurry! Pumpkin race is soon... ;D

Make sure you get a kart with the new style motor on it. The old style is no longer legal to run.

What's the biggest difference, how will I be able to tell?

Easiest way to tell is that the old style has a push button on the side that you press and hold to shut off. The new style has a switch that you turn on or off.

Sweet. Thanks for that Mike. So I won the auction since nobody else even bid on it. 2006 Birel kid kart for 950! I feel like I got a good deal. Even drove down to Salem to get it and back by 1pm to catch the last 30 seconds of the Seahawks. LOL! Runs perfect. But I gotta get this kid some gear, where's the cheapest place to get some just to get the boy through this weekend!!! He doesn't need a suit right. Just high top shoes, (will converse work?), chest protector, helmet, and neck brace. Am I missing anything. Thanks for the help everyone, it's appreciated. Rob

That's great to hear! Looks like you got a really good kart. He needs a chest protector, helmet (full face), gloves, Converse hi-tops will work, a neck collar (I have 1 he can use) and some sort of jacket like a jean jacket ect...
You might want to post on the general board that you are looking for gear. There's usually plenty of people willing to help out.

alright, I'll have to take you up on that neck collar I think I got the rest covered. I had a Fox Motocross Chest and rib protector, and just removed the shoulder protection from it. Fits Great!
