I purchased a Italkart shifter chassis today that has been converted to clone with the basic Blue HF motor just out of the box that still has the stock gas tank. The kart shop I got it from gave me the mikuni pump, fuel line, and pulse fitting. They typ plumb theirs into the intake passage in the head casting, but said the pump often provides too much fuel so they also included a #65 keihin main jet I am supposed to install in the end of the fuel line where it clamps to the carb which supposedly solves the over fueling problem. Do I need this jet if I decide to plumb to the valve cover instead? I'm thinking the interruption of airflow in the intake due to the hole would make this a bad idea and that the top of the valve cover would be a better location. ??

Our clone rules don't allow the pulse fitting on the intake. I use the valve cover.

I saw that, but also noticed many allow it with approval by the race steward. I don't have a problem putting the fitting in the valve cover, but is the "restrictor" jet still needed in the fuel line or do you get a weaker pulse from the valve cover that doesn't deliver so much fuel?

Do I need this jet if I decide to plumb to the valve cover instead? No. Plumb your pulse line to the valve side of the cover and it'll be just fine.

Ok great thanks:) I'm waiting for all my ARC racing bolt ons to come, and I'm going to pull the motor and just take care of everything in one shot.
