Burris rules seemed to work out good for everyone last year, I can't see the need to fix what isn't broken.

This is out of left field, but should be interesting and I hope worth discussing.
I've been reading about The Briggs LO206 and what a motor and package that is. Besides the initial cost, a much cheaper alternative to the clone. I'm not sure if anybody knows the answer but if I showed up with a Briggs Local Option 206 would it be competitive to run with our current clone rules?

Wouldn't be much of a CLONE class if you ran a Briggs....

Competitive? Probably... Legal? No...
12.2 Approved engines – OHV engines generally referred to as Clones with a maximum displacement of 200 cc’s. (Current legal engines include the Lifan, Grey Hound, Harbor Freight Blue, Yellow, Jaing Dong, Yamakoyo, Blue Max & Ducar)

I was looking at those last year. They seem like a low price, even (sealed) and hopefully durable engine.
It seemed like it was too late though, since we already had clone engines.

I agree. Definitely can't change now.. The clone class is a huge success. But I think overall the LO296 is a much better option . not only for reliability, resale or reuse value but for the good of the karting sport in general. maybe sometime in the future it is worth discussing.. I would guess maybe a combined class of some sorts would be a start.. but anywho.... I'm just throwing it out there. I'm sure it was discussed before.

Are any of the clone drivers planning on racing at the nationals?

They might have a clone as an exibition event but they don't run clones at the national or regional levels. That's why I left the clone class. You also need to have 3 regional events under your belt, but I'm not sure if they run it as an exibition event, if that is a requirement.
Someone correct me if I'm wrong.
