I had just recently got off the phone with Vega Helmets. I asked them if they had any Snell rated youth helmets and what the differences were between the adult Snell rating and the youth helmets. The person I had spoken to stated that Vega has a youth "Snell" rated helmet. She said that the helmet is a Trak Jr Karting Helmet which is Certified to CMR 2007 standards for use in kart racing. CMR is Child Motorsports Racing. Vega said that CMR rating is the same as a Snell rating. Snell ratings typically have to deal with adult helmets and not youth. So in the interest of time and some people attention span (that's a joke folks.... ;D) Are the ratings listed in the TCKC equipment rules the only marking that will be accepted or do I need to find another manufacturer? I would really appreciate your input. Thank you. Johnny Poynor

Johnny,
The helmet rules are listed in the IKF rule book. If you do not have a rule book you can give me a call later this afternoon and I can look it up for you.
It's a good idea to check before buying a helmet to make sure you're not buying something that is outdated according to the rules...
