So last weekend I didn't buy one, not two, but three karts! It was a deal that couldn't passed up! The package included a World Formula, Honda 80-85 shifter, and a Honda 125 shifter. I'm super stoked, but I have a few questions about the shifters.
First, I've read about engines being 80 or 85cc's. The seller said it was an 85cc, but I want to be sure. How can I tell what I have?
Second, these karts were put away after the 2010 season and haven't been started since. Are there any procedures and/or precautions I need to take before I try to start these engines? I want to do this properly and not just throw fuel in the tank and try to start them.
If you haven't figured it out yet, I know very little about 2 stroke engines. This is going to be a learning experience for me, but I'm up for the challenge!

Well I would recommend pulling the carb, cleaning it out completely, change the gear oil, put fresh distilled water and some water wetter in the radiator/engine. New fuel and oil, about 6oz per gallon. Then fire her up. My two cents.

When I picked these karts up, this guy was adamant about not using straight water for the cooling system. So is this "water wetter" you write about some kind of additive?

Water Wetter is an additive made by Red Line that is good to use in systems that do not allow anti-freeze to be ran in them. You can also contact Roger at Kart-O-Rama and ask him what people run. He most likely will have whatever you need.
Unless your stuff is in a heated shop make sure your cooling system is drained this time of year or else you will have big problems...
